About Callie

Callie Glover is a certified yoga teacher and somatic movement educator based out of Frodsham, Cheshire UK.

From an early age, Callie was drawn to movement. As a young girl she expressed herself through dance and was often deeply moved by classical music. Her dream was to become a professional dancer and singer and although this didn't happen for her, life took her down a path that would allow her to fulfill her need for creative movement through yoga and somatic awareness.

She began practicing yoga and mindfulness in 2002 and started teaching yoga in 2008 when she qualified with Yoga Vidya Gurukul in India. Callie continued to train in mindfulness and prenatal yoga in 2009 and returned to India to further her studies in 2013.

In 2014 she completed the British Wheel of Yoga Foundation Course over 10 months and decided that she wanted to train under them further. In 2018 Callie qualified as a teacher with The British Wheel of Yoga after completing the 500-hour Teaching Diploma over a 3.5 year period.

In October 2020 she began training to become a Somatic Movement Coach with Lisa Peterson of Living Yoga and was thrilled to qualify in June 2021.

Embodied movement

Callie came to somatic movement by chance in 2017 and was struck by it's ability to engage and hold her attention.  Moving her body in new and interesting ways and feeling the embodiment of the practice captured her heart and she knew right away that she needed it in her life.

Somatic movement has been a life-line in Callie's recovery from a spinal injury and offered her gentle movement possibilities that helped with pain management and mental health. It has shaped her teaching and awakened a passion in her to share it with everyone.

So what's it like at my classes?

Callie's teaching is an awareness inspired practice that extends far beyond yoga postures. Each one of Callie's sessions are a meld of somatic movement, hatha yoga, developmental and functional movement and breathwork. Her sequencing offer the chance to slow down and feel the results of an embodied practice.

Her class is space where people can move and be themselves. An atmosphere where everyone can feel included and valued. A community of people who can have a casual interaction, connect, share a story and have a giggle. It also provides space for people to enjoy quiet time with themselves, lie down, breathe, rest.  A friendly class to celebrate each other. A space to celebrate ourselves.
